How to keep your lawn green

A beautiful lawn doesn’t require a lot of chemicals. Watering, mowing, and fertilization can keep your lawn healthy. Your grass can be healthy enough to resist disease, weeds, and drought on its own. If you are still seeing these problems, changing  your soil or gardening habits can often bring the results you are looking for. With these steps you should have your green grass all spring and summer.

These steps will get your lawn looking healthy and green just like this !

Aerate your lawn

Aerate your yard in the fall and in the spring, aeration is very important for the health of your lawn. Aeration is the process of creating small holes in the surface of your lawn. This can be done using an aeration rake or Amazon sells Aeration Sandals that you can strap on your feet to get this done easily, this process allows water, nutrients, and air access to the roots.

Water your lawn deeply and less often

Water your lawn late in the evening time or in the early morning hours to prevent water evaporation. Run your sprinkler for about 20 mins or you can water your lawn yourself for 20 to 30 mins to make sure your lawn gets the water it needs, Watering up to 1 and a half inches in 1 week or up to 2 inches on a really hot day.

Use natural lawn fertilizers

Organic fertilizers are better for your lawn than synthetic fertilizers since they will improve the soil. If you chose to go with other fertilizers try to go with one that has Nitrogen this is the most important for your lawn. On the front of all fertilizer bags they have the percentage of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, getting one that has more nitrogen it will help improve your lawn better. I have a seeding system liquid sprayer called Grass Shot I found on Amazon that really worked numbers on my lawn.

Cut your grass correctly and to the recommended cutting height.

For a healthy lawn cutting your grass when it is about 4 inches allowing your lawn to focus on root growth. You can also leave the remainder of the grass clippings on the lawn to return the nutrients.  Mowing your lawn in different directions or patterns than the time before can help the grass grow more evenly. Making sure your mower blade is sharpen after around 10 hours of mowing or if the grass has brown looking tips. I found this inexpensive Blade Sharpener on Amazon.

With these 4 Simple steps you will begin to see your lawn transform from brown to green in no time!
